Felting with Farren – Garden Gnome

April 12 @ 1:00 pm 3:00 pm

Ticket Information

Gnomes represent mythological, subterranean earth spirits.  With their long bearded faces, bulbous noses and colorful outfits, especially their signature pointy hat, they win the hearts of many.  Come have fun creating your own gnome’s personality.

Instructor: Farren Maillie

I am a fiber artist specializing in all things squishy and wool.  I am passionate about sustainable art and love creating nature inspired pieces with materials collected from our bountiful world.  You are likely to find me in the forest looking for inspiration, fairy doors and gnomes.

Needle felting is a process that sculpts wool into any shape you imagine.  Wool fibers are covered with scales.  When you agitate the fibers, the scales lock together and thus, the felting occurs.  In needle felting we use special barbed needles that lock the scales of the fiber together.  What this looks like in real time, is stabbing fluffy colorful wool over and over with sharp needles.  We will be using a variety of fibers.  This is a beginner friendly class.

Classes are held in the comfort of our converted double bay garage. It is on the street level and equipped with a powder room. If the class is full we may ask you to park at the bottom of the driveway and walk up the short distance past the alpaca fields. We have a farm shop on the property that you are also welcome to visit. Feel free to BYOB or snacks. Pictures and fun are encouraged!

$65 includes all materials and instruction
