SUMMARY:Barn to Yarn - Session 1
DESCRIPTION:Ticket Information    \n\n\n\nSilkie’s Farm and Whimsical Woollies have partnered together to curate a unique farm to fiber experience for the young\, emerging fiber enthusiast.  Our goal is to gather middle school age (approx 12 to 14) youths with a special interest in the wonderful world of natural fibers\, embark on a fiber journey from animal care to finished fiber product\, and help foster friendships along the way.  \n\n\n\nIn a packed 4 day experience\, participants will first interact with alpacas face to face\, join in on light farm chores\, and learn about cleaning and prepping raw fleece.  Next we will dive into the basics of carding\, spinning and dyeing the fiber.  Lastly we will unleash our creativity and learn to create household goods and sustainable art that utilizes the fiber we have prepared.  Students will create a nesting ball for backyard birds\, make a wet felted soap\, create needle felted sculptures\, hand dye yarn and learn how to craft pin loom flowers that can be used for brooches\, pins\, garlands\, etc.  Farren and Marcia will instruct and guide in all activities.  \n\n\n\nIn addition to all of these skills\, they will take home a new drop spindle\, needle felting pad and needle to continue honing these skills at home and a hand dyed skein of alpaca yarn they can later use in a project of their choice.  \n\n\n\nWarning\, this memorable experience has the potential to lead participants into a passion for working with fiber\, working with animals\, working with our hands\, or an appreciation for those that do. \n\n\n\nWe are really excited to offer this special program.  Registration is limited to keep the experience unique\, fun\, safe and enjoyable.
